After watching the first three picks of the NFL draft go as scripted, the Bengals continued that trend and selected Georgia wide receiver AJ Green with the fourth overall pick. In three years with the Bulldogs Green scored 23 touchdowns, catching 166 passes.
At 6'4'' 211 pounds Green has great hands, great body control and above average speed. He did not fumble in three seasons.
Green left Georgia after his junior year, which statistically was his best, despite missing the first four games on the schedule while serving a suspension. Green admitted to selling a game worn jersey for $1,000.
The last time the Bengals made a receiver their top choice was 2000, when they took Florida State's Peter Warrick - also with the fourth overall pick.
The Bengals will have to replace Terrell Owens and potentially Chad Ochocinco who is in the last year of his contract.
The Bengals also need a quarterback because Carson Palmer says he'll retire if he's not traded. They're expected to look for one in the second round.
