A police chase started in Ft. Wright Friday afternoon after a van was involved in an accident. The man driving the van, Joseph W. Pavey, 26, who police say was driving drunk at the time, had two children and an adult female in the van with him at the time of the accident.
The van sustained heavy damage because of the accident. When police arrived at the scene, they decided that everyone involved in the accident needed medical attention.
The man driving the van decided to leave and take only one of the children with him, he left the other child at the scene of the accident with the adult female.
The child that he took with him is four-years-old.
Police followed the man in the van on a low-speed chase, because of the heavy damage to the van, and used stop sticks to stop the van near AA Highway on I-275 in Campbell County.
The driver would not get out of the van after police had him stopped. Police broke a window of the van and tased the driver to take him into custody.
The man is facing a slew of charges and was taken to the Wilder Police Department and will be transported to the Kenton County Detention Center.
Pavey will be lodged at the Campbell County Detention Center charged with:
- Fleeing and Evading Police
- Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree
- Driving under the influence of alcohol 4th Offense (aggravated)
- Driving on a DUI suspended License
- Violation of an Domestic Violence Order
- Resisting Arrest
