ELROD, IN (FOX19) - One person is dead and two people are hurt after a head-on crash Sunday night in Ripley County.
It happened around 11 p.m. on U.S. 50 in Elrod.
Police say Wess Lovins, 31, of Milan, was traveling westbound on U.S. 50 when he went left of center and struck an eastbound 2011 Freightliner semi tractor pulling a box trailer head on.
Lovins was pinned in his vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene of massive trauma.
The driver of the semi, 31 year old Tommy Lee Wilson III of Milledgeville, Ga. and a co-driver, 50 year old Stanley E. Short of Culloden, Ga. were transported to Margaret-Mary Hospital in Batesville for complaint of pain.
The crash had U.S. 50 closed in both directions until just before 5 a.m. Monday morning when the scene was finally cleared.
The crash remains under investigation.
