The Greenest Zoo in America is now officially generating power from the Sun! The Cincinnati Zoo's new 1.56 megawatt solar canopy, boasting 6,400 panels, located in the Zoo's Vine Street Parking Lot, is the largest publicly accessible urban solar array in the country!
The solar panels convert sunlight into usable clean energy, producing about 20 percent of the Zoo's needed energy, and on sunny cool days send power back to the utility company.
Nearly 150 people will gather in the Vine Street Parking Lot to celebrate the completion of this monumental project. A dedication ceremony is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. on Monday, May 9th.
