A new report released by the U.S. Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics shows the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport has the 5th-highest fares in the nation.
Average domestic air fares rose to $337 in the fourth quarter of 2010, up 5.2 percent from the average fare of $320 in the fourth quarter of 2009. Fourth-quarter fares decreased 0.9 percent from the third quarter, the second consecutive quarterly decline after four increases.
Newark had the highest average fares at $461, followed by Charleston, Fresno, Des Moines and then CVG, which averages $430. Average fares for all U.S. airports is $337.
The lowest fares were from Atlantic City ($156), Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers and Long Beach.
