Patrol: Man pulls gun on Ohio trooper, kills self

Authorities say a man standing next to a broken down car on the Ohio Turnpike aimed a gun at a trooper and then later killed himself as they closed in on him during a chase in northern Ohio.

The State Highway Patrol says it all started Friday around noon when the trooper approached the car just south of Sandusky. The patrol says the man ran off after he pointed the gun at the trooper, who ducked for cover.

He was spotted about an hour later. The patrol says he ran into a wooded area near a golf course as officers moved toward him. They then heard a single gunshot and found the man dead.

His name has not been released.
