Motorcyclist ejected from bike after rear-ending car
LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -
A man was thrown from his motorcycle on northbound Interstate 75, after rear-ending a car early Saturday morning.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says that 27-year-old Marc D. Ackman Jr. of Monroe was riding his 2007 Yamaha R6 on the highway around 12:30 Saturday morning. Evidence and witness reports suggest that Mr. Ackman was speeding. Mr. Ackman then rear-ended a car being driven by 26-year-old Justin Riley of Middletown.
The collision threw Mr. Ackman from his motorcycle, and he landed in the road. However, he was able to drag himself off the road before being hit by oncoming cars. The motorcycle was struck by two of those cars, and was torn into three pieces before busting into flames. The two cars were driven by 33-year-old Mark Oliver of Kettering and 21-year-old Donald Herrington of Cincinnati.
Mr. Ackman sustained serious injuries and was transported to Atrium Medical Center in Middletown.
The northbound lanes of I-75 were closed for a little more than an hour while the wreckage was cleared.
Mr. Ackman was wearing a helmet and protective clothing, however, alcohol is believed to be a factor in this crash.
