WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) - Thursday, a mother and daughter badly injured in a an accident that killed two people had a chance to say thank you to medical responders who saved their lives.
Makenzy Blair, 14, and her mother, Cindy, met with the Air Care crew that responded to the scene of the accident.
"I believe it was because of the rescuers and God that saved me," said Makenzy. "But mostly because of the rescuers."
Makenzy suffered brain injuries, two broken femurs and a collapsed aorta. Her mom was also injured in the crash; both have no memory of the accident.
"I remember going to Dunkin Donuts before we got on the interstate. Then getting onto the interstate and waking up in the hospital," said Cindy Blair. "When I watch this stuff on TV it's like a chapter of my life I don't remember being a part of."
Cindy was taken to a separate hospital than her daughter's for her injuries. She says she is blessed so many people came to their rescue.
"Makes you appreciate everyday a little more than you used to," said Cindy.
The accident happened in November of last year when Julie Anuszkiewicz, 25, crashed her car head-on into a van driven by Lori Morris, 41.
Both women died at the scene. The four passengers in Morris' car, including her two daughters and Cindy and Makenzy Blair, survived the accident.
