COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Three Columbus officers were hurt when police using pepper spray moved in to break up a party that had spilled into a street near the Ohio State University campus.
The Columbus Dispatch reports the officers' injuries were not serious from the clash early Sunday.
Police spokesman Sgt. Rich Weiner says one officer was pelted on the back of the head by a full beer can.
Two Ohio State students and a third man were arrested on felony charges of assault on a police officer.
University spokesman Jim Lynch tells the newspaper the students could face dismissal or less severe penalties under the student code of conduct.
Weiner says police were determined to avoid the widespread injuries and property damage seen during out-of-control street parties of years past.
