Law enforcement officials from Kentucky and Ohio are joining forces to kick off the national "Click It or Ticket" campaign to encourage the use of seat belts.
The campaign runs from May 23 until June 5.
A kick off is being held Wednesday at noon on Fountain Square, where over 50 law enforcement agencies from Kentucky and Ohio will be present, along with a rollover simulator.
According to a report by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, seat belt use continues to be lower among 16- to 24-year-olds than other age groups, and is lower among males than females.
The NHTSA also reports that in 2008, an estimated 244 lives were saved by the use of child restraints and 13,250 lives of people 5 and older were saved by seat belts.
