Newport High School principal forced out by state

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - Newport High School's principal and site-based council were sent packing after a state assessment team said they don't have the capability to continue in their roles.

The Kentucky Department of Education labeled the high school "persistently low-achieving" after the department conducted a school leadership assessment the last week of April.

The rating makes the school eligible for a Federal School Improvement Grant, which likely means hundreds of thousands of dollars for improvements.
