Volunteers work to clean up Cincinnati

Hundreds of volunteers will help beautify the Queen City on Friday.

It's all part of the Fifth Annual Mayors Corporate Challenge as local companies and their employees will paint, plant, clean and mulch at numerous city parks and green spaces.

At Sawyer Point, Mayor Mark Mallory will rally all of the volunteers before pitching in.

The Purple People Bridge will also get some upgrades. Councilwoman Laure Quinlivan and workers from Home Depot will paint the yellow post at the Ohio entrance purple to match the bridge.

"I believe in citizen power, and I'm confident working together we will make this bridge a great public gathering space," says Quinlivan.  "We already have mobile food vendors across the street, and this should be a great little park."

The Cincinnati Parks Foundation, Public Services Department, Cincinnati Fire Department and Park Board are also taking part in the challenge.
