West Chester teen raising money for double lung transplant
WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) -
19-year-old Alicia Lang is living with cystic fibrosis. Diagnosed at the age of five Lang is now ready and waiting for a double lung transplant.
The 2010 Lakota West graduate started her own non-profit organization, Alicia's Lungs to help families like hers find support and funding for medical expenses.
Now, Alicia is a candidate to receive a double lung transplant and a local car dealership is raising money to save her life.
19-year-old Alicia has already surpassed most cystic fibrosis patients and she hopes with her new lungs she can live even longer.
A double lung transplant costs close to $2 million, which is why Superior Auto Group stepped in. Steve Massie met Alicia and decided to use the dealership's Facebook page to raise money for her transplant. By simply "liking" Superior, the dealership would donate $5 to Alicia's Lungs.
Within 48 hours, Superior says they had capped out with over 6,000 new Facebook fans.
Superior donated $10,000 to Alicia's Lungs, putting her one step closer to her happy and healthy twenties.
