Long delays promised on I-75 this weekend

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - The Kentucky Transportation cabinet is pretty much guaranteeing backups this weekend for people who use Northbound I-71/I-75 anywhere near the river in Northern Kentucky.

The phrase they use is "EXPECT LONG DELAYS".

That is because of major road painting work.

From 11:00 p.m. Friday until around 5:00 a.m. Monday, crews will have the highway down to just one lane in the cut in the hill, from Dixie Highway to the Brent Spence Bridge.

The entrance ramp from Kyles Lane to northbound 75 (189-mile marker) will be closed, and so will the exit ramp from NB 75 to 12th Street (exit 191).

The KYTC says northbound travelers who are going to Ohio should use eastbound 275 to I-471, then take 471 to Cincinnati.

After that, they can follow the signs to I-75, I-71, 50, or Downtown, and get to other destinations from there.
