Police: Beware of scam targeting elderly community

DRY RIDGE, KY (FOX19) - The Kentucky State Police in Dry Ridge want to inform citizens of criminal activity that is occurring in the Morehead and Dry Ridge Post areas.

According to Kentucky State Police, two white males are going to residences of elderly people and approaching the occupants about giving them an estimate for a new heating and air conditioning unit.

Once inside the residence, one of the male subjects will distract the victim while the other male subject goes around measuring the residence. While pretending to take the measurements, that male subject is taking jewelry and any other valuable items.

Both men have been described as white males. One of the male subjects is approximately 50 years old, has a gray/silver beard and wears a fishing type hat. The other male subject has been described as younger.

These subjects have been seen driving a black full size pickup truck. These criminal acts have occurred in the Sharpsburg area of Bath County and the Morefield area of Nicholas County.
