Gas line break causes evacuations at Xavier

EVANSTON, OH (FOX19) - Construction crews digging on the Xavier University campus hit a gas line and caused evacuations of some buildings on campus.

The construction crews hit a pipe near the intersection of Dana Ave and Herald Ave, causing the evacuation.

As a precaution, Alter Hall, the Conaton Learning Commons, and the University Library have been evacuated and classes at Xavier have been cancelled for the rest of Tuesday. However, there is believed to be no immediate danger, and the line that was leaking has been closed.

Most Xavier students are on summer break, so there were not a lot of students affected by the gas leak.
