SPRING GROVE VILLAGE, OH (FOX19) - The Vietnam Memorial Traveling Wall is at Spring Grove Cemetery this weekend for Memorial Day.
The wall is an 80 percent replica of the Washington, D.C. memorial and is over 380 feet in length. The memorial will open to the public in the morning. Parking will be provided in close proximity to the display. Directional signage will be placed throughout the cemetery.
From Friday until Monday, a photo tribute to U.S. military veterans of all eras will be on display from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Gwen Mooney Funeral Home on the grounds of Spring Grove.
On Sunday, a ceremony honoring deceased veterans conducted by American Legion Post 372 will be held at 11 a.m.; a "Salute to Veterans" ceremony will take place 2 to 4 p.m. at the Vietnam Traveling Wall display.
On Monday, Sons of the Union Veterans and the 6th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, a re-enactors group, will put on a living history program at 11 a.m. in the Civil War Section. At noon, local Lincoln interpreter Stan Wernz will appear at a "Meet Mr. Lincoln" program. The Lincoln program will be followed at 2 p.m. by a historical walking tour led by docent Heather Amos, featuring the grave sites of Revolutionary War veterans.
All Memorial Day events are FREE and open to the public.
