HazMat team called to Arlington Heights after car crashes into building

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, OH (FOX19) -

HazMat crews have given the all-clear after a chemical spill in Arlington Heights. A car crashed into a pool and patio business on Elliot Drive around 1 p.m.

Sun Spot Pool and Patio houses chemicals for swimming pools in a storage area. The driver of a black Chevy ran into that storage area.

The business is near Interstate 75, but traffic on the interstate was not being affected.

Officials issued a "Shelter in Place" for nearby homes, advising residents to stay inside and close any doors or windows. The "Shelter in Place" was lifted just after 2:30 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with injuries, but is currently in stable condition. The cause of the crash is not yet known, but is believed to be driver inattention.

FOX19 will update this story as more information becomes available.
