CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Members of local labor union SEIU Local 1 and other labor unions protested the opening black-tie and tiara gala at Great American Insurance Group Tower, Thursday.
They protested and demanded that the owners of the building, Eagle Realty, a real estate subsidiary of Western & Southern, honor their signed agreement to hire responsible contractors for the janitorial work done at the tower.
The group protesting says that instead of honoring their agreement with Cincinnati, Eagle Realty hired Executive Management Services, EMS, as the janitorial contractor. They say that EMS gives low wages and poor benefits to their staff.
The members of the local labor unions are protesting because they say they don't want to standards for the janitorial staff at Great American Insurance Group Tower to become the new standard in other downtown buildings.
They said they were taking a stand for the people that clean the floors the black-tie attendees walked on.
