Blue Ash Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony- The parade begins 10:15 a.m. Reed Hartman Highway and Cooper Road to Veterans Memorial Park. The parade includes Ohio Air National Guard F-16s' flyover, the 338th Army Band, the Sycamore High School Marching Band and the Cincinnati Scots Bagpipe Unit. A ceremony will follow 11:30 a.m.at Blue Ash Bicentennial Veterans Memorial Park, Hunt and Cooper roads featuring keynote speaker Chief Master Sgt. Shelina Frey from U.S. Air Force Materiel Command's Aeronautical Systems Center and the 88th Air Base Wing at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
The Butterflies of Brazil Salute Military - Visit the Butterflies of Brazil at Krohn Conservatory, Eden Park, 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. and see the butterfly show to benefit the Cincinnati Firefighters Memorial Park. Firefighters will be grilling, putting on puppet shows and giving tours of the department's smoke house.
Camp Springs Memorial Day Parade and Service- The parade begins 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 5977 Lower Tug Fork Road, Campbell County. A service will follow 11:30 a.m. Camp Springs Firehouse, 6844 Four Mile Road featuring the presentation of the Citizen of the Year and Grade School Essay awards. A reception will follow at noon.
Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra Memorial Day Concert- This outdoor concert will feature patriotic pieces and light classical music at Seasongood Pavilion at Eden Park 3 p.m. This is the last chance to see the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra perform this season!
City of Fairfield Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony- The parade will start 10 a.m. at Merck-Medco, 4865 Dixie Highway, Fairfield and end at Fairfield Veterans Memorial Park, 700 Wessel Drive. A ceremony with Fairfield Mayor Ron D'Epifanio speaking and performances by the Hamilton-Fairfield Concert Band will follow.
City of Middletown Memorial Day Parade, ceremony- The parade will start 10 a.m. at Smith Park, 500 Tytus Ave., and travel on Verity Parkway to Woodside Cemetery. A ceremony will follow at Woodside Cemetery and Arboretum 11:30 a.m. with Municipal Court judge and Vietnam Veteran Mark Wall as master of ceremonies, guest speaker U.S. Army veteran Randall Howard and the release of 1,200 balloons to remember those lost serving our country.
City of Newport Memorial Day Parade- The parade will start 9 a.m. and travel on York Street, Sixth Street, Monmouth Street and end at the City Building on Tenth Street. A ceremony and continental breakfast will follow at the Newport City Building.
Clermont Memorial Day Parade- The parade starts 11:30 a.m. and lines up at Aztec Plumbing, 140 W. Main Street, Batavia 11 a.m.
Covington Memorial Day Parade- The parade begins 2 p.m. at Holmes High School and ends at Linden Grove Cemetery, where a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m.
DET 3 Foundation Memorial Day Car Raffle- A fully restored 1970 Monte Carlo donated by former Cincinnati Enquirer columnist Peter Bronson will be raffled to benefit military troops overseas 6 p.m. Fountain Square, downtown. The car will be on display at Taste of Cincinnati Saturday-Monday.
Eden Park Vietnam Veterans Memorial Day Ceremony- The ceremony includes the Chapter 10 color guard performing traditional duties and posting the colors, reflections from chapter board members and music by the UC Bearcat Band. The ceremony starts 10 a.m. at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
Elsmere VFW Memorial Day Parade- The parade starts 9 a.m. at Ralph Fulton VFW Post 6423, 4435 Dixie Highway, and ends at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Includes a service for the fallen from the Korean and Vietnam Wars at the Vietnam/Korean Memorials, Dixie Highway and Stevenson Road.
Evanston Memorial Day Parade and Community Fair- The parade runs 10 a.m.-noon with a fair following noon-2 p.m. Evanston Recreation Center, 3204 Woodburn Ave. Superintendent of Cincinnati Public Schools Mary Ronan will be Parade Grand Marshal.
Florence Memorial Day Parade and Program- The parade begins 10 a.m. at Boone County High School, 7056 Burlington Pike finishing at the Boone County Veterans Memorial. A program will follow at the Veterans Memorial 11 a.m. where a new POW/MIA monument will be unveiled. Military equipment and memorabilia will be on display 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Florence Government Center campus.
Glendale Memorial Day Parade- The parade will start 9:30 a.m. from Glendale School and end on Sharon Road at the War Memorial. Services will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the War Memorial with refreshments being served at 11:30 a.m.
Greenhills Memorial Day Ceremony- American Legion Ceremony 9:45 a.m., Village Commons, Winton and Farragut Roads.
Hamilton Parade and Ceremony- The parade begins on Monument Avenue between Columbia Bridge and the Fitton Center for Creative Arts 10 a.m. A ceremony will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Field of Honor in Greenwood Cemetery. Judge Ron Kraft, a retired Lt. Col. in the Air Force Reserve, will speak.
Highland Cemetery Memorial Day Celebration- The Highland Cemetery will hold a celebration 10 a.m. in Ft. Mitchell, KY with guest speaker Lieutenant Colonel and Scott High School Principal Tom Madison.
Independence Annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony- The parade will begin 10:30 a.m. at Delaware Crossing Drive, Independence, KY and finish at the Kenton County Courthouse. Stops for memorial services will be held at the Independence Cemetery, St. Cecilia Cemetery and Kenton County Courthouse along the parade route.
Indian Hill Memorial Day Observation- The service to honor veterans starts 10:30 a.m. at Armstrong Chapel United Methodist Church, 5125 Drake Road. The event includes a flag ceremony, hymn, reading, recognition of living veterans and military personnel, a roll call of deceased veterans and a moment of silence with music by the Indian Hill High School Brass Ensemble.
Kiwanis Memorial Day Service- Ohio Sen. Eric Kearney will serve as the keynote speaker at the Northside-College Hill service which features the unveiling of the Kiwanis Veteran's Wall, a lighting ceremony, a POW/MIA service and music by the Rainbow Band 1 p.m. at Wesleyan Cemetery, 4003 Colerain Ave., Northside.
Lebanon, S. Lebanon Parades and Ceremony- The parade starts 11 a.m. at the Lebanon Train Station and ends at the Lebanon Cemetery. A special ceremony will follow at the cemetery with prayers, a speaker and the presentations of four wreaths by the VFW, Elks Eagles and American Legion. Line up for the parade begins 11 a.m. at Fire Station 46, 285 E. Pike St.
Mason's Memorial Parade, ceremony- The parade starts 10 a.m. at the American Legion Post on Reading Road and finishes at Rose Hill Cemetery on Mason Montgomery Road. Ceremonies will follow 11 a.m. at the cemetery.
Mason's School's Out Fun Days- The day includes games, arts and crafts and swimming. 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Mason Community Center, 6050 Mason-Montgomery Road. Must register.
Cleves Memorial Day Parade- The parade starts 9:30 a.m. iin Cleves and includes over 100 antique cars carrying WWII veterans. A red carpet recognition will also be held in the center of town for six veterans. A memorial service will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Monroe Memorial Day Ceremony- The ceremony will be 10 a.m. at the Veteran's Memorial, at the corner of Ohio 63 and Main Street.
Mount Washington Memorial Day Parade- The parade begins 10:30 a.m., Stanbery Park, 2221 Oxford Ave. and ends at American Legion Mt. Washington Post 484 monument. A ceremony with keynote speaker Glenn Johnson will follow at the monument featuring music, testimonials for veterans and grave firings performed by the Post Drill Squad at the Mount Washington Cemetery. Refreshments at Post 484 will follow.
Pleasant Ridge Memorial Day Observance and Picnic- The service followed by lunch begins noon at Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church, 5950 Montgomery Road. Tours of the cemetery will be available until 2 p.m.
Reading-Lockland-Arlington Heights Memorial Day Parade- The parade begins 9 a.m. Park and Memorial, Clark Street and Elliott Avenue, Arlington Heights, and ends at the Reading Lockland Cemetery, Jefferson and Columbia, for closing ceremonies.
Sharonville VFW Memorial Day Service- The service begins 1:30 p.m. at the Paul Vail VFW Post 4369, 3318 E. Sharon Road with a community picnic following.
"Spike out Blood Cancer" fundraising event- Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Man of the Year Candidate Steve VanGorder will host the 2nd annual "Spike out Blood Cancer" volleyball tournament 10 a.m. in Franklin, Ohio to raise money for blood cancer research. The event includes a six-on-six sand volleyball tournament with the winning team receiving a $1,000 cash prize, a concert by the local Beatle's tribute band Ticket to Ride at 1 p.m., a raffle for a 2011 Chevy Camaro and appearance by WWE star and Lima, OH native Al Snow.
Twin Towers Remember and Honor- The service recognizes 94 Twin Towers residents and those who served and passed away since last year. The service begins 11 a.m. at Gulden Community Center, Twin Towers, 5343 Hamilton Ave., College Hill.
Creation Museum Honors Veterans- The museum will be open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. with free admission to veterans; 2800 Bullittsburg Church Road, Petersburg.
West Chester Memorial Day Parade and Service - The parade starts 10 a.m. at Union Day School, 8735 Cincinnati-Dayton Road, West Chester Township and finishes at Brookside Cemetery. WWII veteran Byron Seales is grand marshal. State Sen. Bill Coley will speak at a ceremony following the parade with performances by the Lakota East and Lakota West High School bands and Cincinnati Caledonian Pipe and Drums.
8th Annual Hunger Walk and 5K Run, Cincinnati- The 3.1 mile walk and 5K run will start 9 a.m. at Sawyer Point to benefit Freestore Foodbanks's non-profit member agencies.
