CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Early registration for the 2012 World Choir Games in Cincinnati has been extended.
INTERKULTUR, the International Organizing Committee of the World Choir Games, announced that early-bird registration has been extended through July 15 from the original deadline of June 1.
Lori Lobsiger, director of North American Markets for INTERKULTUR, said her office has heard from or been in contact with more than 500 choirs from the United States and Canada, including 38 states. Jelena Dannhauer, project manager for INTERKULTUR, said international interest has never been higher this far out from the World Choir Games.
"It is great news that so many choirs are interested in the 2012 World Choir Games, and we don't want to penalize choirs wanting to complete early-bird registration and save money," Dannhauer said.
The World Choir Games is the largest international choral competition in the world, taking place every two years. The event is expected to attract 400 choirs from 70 countries. The 7th World Choir Games are in Cincinnati from July 4-14, 2012; it is the first time in the history of the event that it is being held in a U.S. city.
Early-bird registration provides:
- 50% discount on registration ($250, reduced from $500)
- 3% discount on event package (participation and accommodations fees)
- $5 per person discounted deducted from total package fees if paid by Dec. 15, 2011
- One complimentary event package for every 35 choir members
