FRANKLIN, OH (FOX19) - A suspect has been arrested after a homeowner caught him trying to break into his house.
At around 10 a.m. Tuesday morning, the owner of a vacant home on Millard Drive in Franklin pulled into the driveway and caught a male trying to break in. The suspect got into a vehicle and sped away. The homeowner called 911 and was able to give police a vehicle description and direction of travel.
A Franklin Police Officer on routine patrol observed the suspect vehicle as it turned onto Conover Drive at East Fourth Street. When the officer turned around, the suspect vehicle fled at a high rate of speed.
The driver of the suspect vehicle failed to maintain control of his vehicle as he rounded a sharp curve near Kemper Auto Sales, went off the right side of the roadway, through the Kemper sign and down the embankment into the small creek.
The driver fled the scene on foot and was located within a few minutes. After a brief struggle, the driver was taken into custody.
The driver was identified as David Collins, 21, of Middletown. He was transported to the Atrium Hospital for minor injuries and has since been released to the Warren County Jail, where his is being held on a $13,500 bond.
