Cincinnati Public Schools' Board of Education has begun their search for a new Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer.
Consultants from the Ohio Association of School Business Officials (OASBO) reviewed applications from 20 people to the board members at a meeting in Corryville. Three of the applicants were those who live in Cincinnati, nine are from around Ohio and eight are from out of state. All 20 applicants passed an initial screening by the consultants.
CPS plans to interview selected applicants from among the 20 on June 9-10. Final interviews will be held tentatively on June 20. CPS hopes to hire a Treasurer/CFO at the June 27 meeting.
The current Treasurer/CFO, Jonathan Boyd will be retiring on July 31 of this year. He has served as Treasurer since May of 2007.
The Treasurer reports directly to the Board of Education and will be responsible for the receipt, safekeeping, and accounting for and disbursement of all public funds, according to the law and district's regulations and policies. The Treasurer will also forecast the district's financial situation for planning purposes, determining tax mileage and managing investments.
