FRANKLIN, OH (FOX19) - The City of Franklin Police Department is conducting an internal investigation into a call made on Friday of a person in distress from the Great Miami river, and whether the response was handled properly.
On Tuesday, the body of Cody Pressler, 18, was recovered from the Great Miami River.
The distress call to police Friday reportedly advised that a woman had heard someone screaming for help in the area of West 8th St. near the Great Miami River. The reporting person advised the officer on scene that it sounded like the voice was going downstream. Officers from Franklin and Middletown both searched the Great Miami river and were unable to locate anyone in distress.
On Sunday, a missing person report for Cody Pressler. Later that day, crews began searching for Pressler in the Great Miami River.
On Tuesday, the Franklin Fire Department search team located a body on the east river bank of the Great Miami River.
The Franklin Police Department is conducting an internal investigation into the events that occurred on Friday were properly handled. Franklin Police will release the results of this investigation as soon as it's complete.
