Slain Boone County couple laid to rest

FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) -

A Boone County couple found dead in their home over Memorial Day weekend was laid to rest on Friday.

A funeral for Bill and Peggy Stephenson, both 74, of Florence, was held Friday morning at Florence Baptist Church.

The Stephensons were found dead in their home on Sunday after police checked on them when they did not show up for church. Their death is being investigated as a double homicide.

The service had to be moved to Florence Baptist to handle the large crowd.

Bill was a deacon at Union Baptist Church and his wife an organist. Bill was known in the community for his work with the Trucker's Chapel ministry at a truck stop on Route 18 just off Highway 75.

Police have not released any more information on the couple's deaths. If you have any information, call Crimestoppers at 513-352-3040.
