Cincinnati(FOX19)—The magic word in the past seven days in NASCAR has been fuel. Last Sunday Dale Earnhardt Jr. didn't have enough and this Sunday he did.
But he finished second on Sunday to Brad Keselowski, who did some amazing fuel saving in the final 57 laps. Keselowski led the final nine laps for his second career win in the Sprint Cup Series in Sunday's STP 400 at Kansas.
"I thought for sure I was going to run second. Nobody told me I was leading," Keselowski said. He said he looked to his left with two laps to go and found out that he was leading.
Earnhardt Jr., who has the second best average finish in the sport this year, was happy after the run. He hasn't won in 105 races. "We had a good car. We were fast," he said.
Denny Hamlin finished third, Jeff Gordon fourth and points leader Carl Edwards finished fifth.
Keselowski's first win in NASCAR came in April of 2009 when he flipped Carl Edwards to win at Talladega.
"If we get a few more of these wins we'll be in the Chase," Keselowski said.
Next week the Sprint Cup moves to Pocono. This race was the final race on FOX. Next week the TV coverage shifts to TNT.
