Police: Suspect doused man with gas; assaulted woman with chair

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A Wilmington man is facing charges after police say he doused a man with gasoline, then assaulted a woman with a chair.

At around 12:40 a.m. Monday morning, police say Joseph Ramsey, 45, entered a residence on Birney Lane, where he occasionally stayed.

Ramsey then started throwing gasoline around the room where Paul Downs, 47, was sleeping.

Police say Ramsey was intoxicated and did not display a lighter or matches.

He then fled the house and confronted the owner of the house, throwing a chair at her. The woman was not injured.

Ramsey fled in a black pickup truck towards Beechmont Avenue. Charges are being filed for criminal endangering and Ramsey currently has a felony warrant and indictment out for his arrest.

The Anderson Township Fire Department responded to the home to clean up the gasoline. Less than a gallon was spilled.

Anyone with information on Ramsey's whereabouts is asked to call Crimestoppers at 513-352-3040.
