WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) - After a one year hiatus, The 49th annual Homerama is back, and while the economy is still an issue, the home showcase is still managing in a tough market.
"People will remember that we had homes that were over $2 million, the price ranges are significantly lower this year," said Dan Dressman of the Home Builders Assn of Greater Cincinnati.
The home prices at this year's Homerama Foxborough range from $700,000 to $1 million; believe it or not that's considerably less money than homes sold in years past, as home buyers across the tri-state have less to spend in a market that's still recovering.
"I think that the price range is more suitable to what we have today," said Joe Hinson of the West Chester Liberty Chamber Alliance.
Builders still recognize, the fact that Homerama is back is a positive signal for the industry.
"What this says to me is that we're very optimistic, about the market here in Cincinnati," Dressman said.
"I think that what it means is the economy is coming back, and West Chester I think is a leader in doing that," Hinson said.
You might expect the luxury homes to sit on the market for a while, but the state of the art development is going fast.
"This year's show, we have three of the five house have been sold already, what people are going to see are a whole lot of new decorating ideas in this year's show," Dressman said
Workers are putting every last detail into decor and last minute landscaping on the five homes that will be to the public on Saturday, organizers say it's an opportunity to showcase what West Chester has to offer to visitors and out of towners.
"One of the main reasons we chose this sight for the 49th Homerama, is that fact that West Chester is a much sought after community," Dressman said.
"And this is a growth area, new businesses coming in, new people coming in, so we surely think it's the right place at the right time," Hinson said.
Homerama runs from June 11- June 26, Mon-Thrus: 4pm-10pm; Fri-Sun: Noon-10pm
