AMELIA, OH (FOX19) - The village of Amelia will discuss the possible future of their police department in a meeting on June 16.
At the Council meeting held on Tuesday evening, the village of Amelia has scheduled a special meeting to determine the fate of the police department.
The special meeting will be held on Thursday, June 16 at 7:00pm. At that meeting, Interim Amelia Police Chief John Wallace will answer questions on how the police department will operate under the current budget. Those numbers will be compared with the Clermont County Sheriff's office proposal.
A decision will be made at a later date.
If the police department is eliminated, the Sheriff's office would take over the patrol.
Voters in Amelia have voted down a police levy in 2010 twice. The Police force currently had four full-time and four part-time officers.
