AMELIA, OH (FOX19) - A local man is challenging his fellow residents in Clermont County to collectively lose thousands of pounds together.
Rick Barron is creating a county-wide support group to untie residents to achieve weight loss together; something that many may have been unable to do individually.
The goal of the first annual Clermont County Health Challenge is to collectively lose 100,000 pounds in 100 days.
"There's something about the human psyche that wired for community," said Barron. "History is full of stories where collectively we've been able to achieve phenomenal results."
The Challenge kicks off on Monday, June 13 at the Batavia Township Community Center located at 1553 Clough Pike at 7:00pm. Doors will open at 6:30pm and attendance is free.
The event is open to anyone who wants to participate. Meetings will continue every other week through the summer to provide participants with practical solutions for a healthy lifestyle shared by local health experts.
Those interested in tracking the 100,000 pound progress or find other free resources for health, nutrition and wellness can go to the Clermont Challenge website.
