A Middletown man is behind bars after police say he scammed the elderly.
Kenneth Christian, 51, was arrested Wednesday on two counts of theft against the elderly.
According to police, Christian would go to homeowners and tell them their chimney caps needed to be replaced. He would then charge them for the work, acted like he performed the service, and leave. Closer inspection revealed that no work was performed.
During the winter, Christian told an 80-year-old woman she needed a new chimney cap and charged her $850 to perform work that was never done. In another case, he told an 86-year-old woman and her husband they needed a new cap and gutters cleaned. They were charged $685 for a cap that was not replaced.
On June 7, detectives questioned Christian and found what appeared to be child pornography on his computer. A search warrant was executed and the computer and other evidence was seized.
Police suspect there may be more victims. Anyone who thinks they may have been a victim to Christian should call Det. Winters at 513-425-7786.
Christian is being held at the Middletown Jail.
