CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A charity stunt that has grown into a social media phenomenon went terribly wrong for four Kentucky firefighters who were injured when a fire truck's ladder got too close to a power line after they dumped water on college students who were taking part in an "ice bucket challenge." The Campbellsville Police chief says the power line wasn't touched, but it carried such a high voltage that it was able to energize the ladder truck, shocking the firefighters.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources has some advice for people taking their boats out in coming weeks, during summer's last days. The boating education coordinator says non-motorized boats are harder for motor boat operators to see and aren't as easy to maneuver to avoid danger.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky and Tennessee are receiving funds from the U.S. Department of Labor's Mine Safety and Health Administration's health and safety training grants. The grants cover training and retraining of miners working at surface and underground coal and metal and nonmetal mines.
