PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) - Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell and Democratic challenger Alison Lundergan Grimes will appear tomorrow at the annual Fancy Farm picnic. The unique event features a raucous crowd that frequently interrupts candidates' speeches. Both candidates say they want to debate.

BYRDSTOWN, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee investigators say a Kentucky man has been arrested in the deaths of a father and son whose bodies were found at their family-owned store. Police say Joshua Clay Pyles of Monticello, Kentucky, killed 58-year-old Dan Dowdy and 22-year-old Cody Dowdy late Wednesday in Pickett County. Police are still investigating the motive.

PRINCETON, Ky. (AP) - The outlook for Kentucky's upcoming harvest depends on where farmers live. National stats show overall, 49 percent of the statewide corn crop was in good condition as of last Sunday. Twenty-two percent was fair and 12 percent poor or very poor.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky coach John Calipari has hired former Auburn head coach Tony Barbee to replace Rod Strickland as his special assistant. Barbee played under Calipari at Massachusetts. Strickland left Kentucky to become an assistant at South Florida.
