WASHINGTON (AP) - The U.S. Supreme Court next week will take up a challenge of an Ohio law barring false statements about political candidates during a campaign. The high court likely won't rule directly on the constitutional issue but will focus on whether the law can be challenged before it is actually enforced.

CINCINNATI (AP) - Republican officials later this month will visit Cincinnati and Cleveland as the party considers where to hold its 2016 national convention. The party expects to pick the host city this summer, with the visits giving officials a more in-depth look at convention venues, financing and other issues.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Senator Rob Portman this morning is bringing together anti-drug activists, school officials, students and community leaders for a roundtable on heroin. The Ohio Republican says a comprehensive "all hands on deck" effort is needed to county growing addiction problems.

CINCINNATI (AP) - A federal judge says he'll rule quickly on whether to stay his decision ordering Ohio to recognize out-of-state gay marriages. The judge has already suggested he's leaning toward a stay. Attorneys for four same-sex couple challenging the statue say there's no public interest in delaying the judge's ruling.
