PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Philadelphia Eagles have acquired rookie kicker Cody Parkey from the Indianapolis Colts for running back David Fluellen. Fluellen had six carries for 25 yards and caught one touchdown pass in the first preseason game. He rushed for 3,336 yards and 28 touchdowns in four college seasons.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Former Indiana basketball stars Victor Oladipo and Cody Zeller joined new Hall of Fame inductee Bobby "Slick" Leonard for a small reunion last night in Indianapolis. The three sat at a table signing autographs at Lucas Oil Stadium. Zeller and Oladipo have been working out on Indiana's campus this week along with Dwyane Wade, Mario Chalmers and Udonis Haslem from the Miami Heat.
(AP) - A person close to the situation says Minnesota's Maya Moore has won the WNBA most valuable player award. The person says Moore will receive the award tonight in Minnesota before the Lynx face San Antonio in the first game of the Western Conference semifinals. Phoenix's Diana Taurasi finished second and Atlanta's Angel McCoughtry was third.
CHICAGO (AP) - The San Francisco Giants rolled past the Chicago Cubs 8-3 yesterday after they won a protest regarding a rain-shortened loss from the night before. Jake Peavy pitched seven solid innings in his fifth start with San Francisco. The Cubs' Luis Valbuena added a solo homer and a triple in going 3 for 4.
