COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - Graduation day is one of the biggest days in high school seniors life, but that day is on hold for one Covington school because of Friday's severe weather.
Hundreds of people were inside the gymnasium at Holmes High School when the power suddenly went out, leaving the gymnasium almost pitch black. The ceremony was supposed to start at 7:00 pm, but when the power didn't come back on the school administration cancelled the ceremony, and rescheduled it for Saturday.
Holmes High School Principal Dennis Maines says he isn't aware of this ever happening at the school on graduation night. He also says there were some people upset the ceremony was cancelled because some family members flew in from out of town.
"I apologize but this is one of those things that was kind of out of my control. We did the best we could this evening but I think we can do a better job tomorrow," said Principal Maines.
The graduation ceremony has been moved to 10:00 am Saturday morning.
