WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) - Tuesday night, West Chester Township trustees approved a 14-page resolution stating what some select businesses can and can't do.
The new zoning restrictions apply to what the township calls sexually oriented businesses, Internet cafes and methadone clinics.
According to trustee George Lang sexually oriented businesses include: video stores, book stores, peep shows, and strip clubs. The only sexually oriented business in West Chester is Pik Kwik Adult Superstore on State Route 747. The store is following the township's current guidelines that it must be located on or west of 747 and south of Port Union Rd.
Because Pik Kwik is an already established business it won't need to follow the township's now more strict guidelines, but any new business must follow these restrictions.
- No sexually oriented business can be located within 500 feet of a school, church, park, or child care facility.
- No sexually oriented business can have any signs in their windows.
- No sign can exceed 40 square feet.
"I think our restrictions are very fair," said Lang. "There is plenty of room for those businesses to operate. All we want to is mitigate the exposure to residents, to neighborhoods, to churches, places where kids can gather."
