LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A report in the Columbus Dispatch says Karen Mantia has accepted the superintendent job for Lakota Schools.
Mantia was the superintendent for the Pickerington Local School District, near Columbus. The Dispatch is reporting that Mantia sent an e-mail to the school board, telling them that she is resigning effective August 1. The board still has to finalize her resignation.
The Dispatch reports that on Aug. 2, Pickerington district voters are expected to vote on a new permanent levy. If the levy fails, the district would have to cut $7 million.
Mantia would replace former Lakota superintendent Mike Taylor, who retired in January. The district currently has an interim superintendent, Ron Spurlock.
Lakota is one of the Tri-State's largest school districts, with over 18,500 students.
