CHEVIOT, OH (FOX19) - The report of a possible dead body in Cheviot, Ohio reveals an abandoned dog in an apartment complex, still alive.
The smell of something decayed in an apartment was reported just before 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
Police arrived at the apartment complex in the 1900 block of Westwood Northern Blvd. and found a dog living in the abandoned apartment. The tenants, who had apparently moved out, left the bathtub full of water for the dog.
The smell of the stale water in the bathtub, along with the smell of dog feces in the apartment, is what alerted passerby's to the apartment.
Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals took the dog and will rehabilitate it. A police officer on the scene said it was a "friendly dog."
There is no word on how long the dog had been alone in the apartment.
