Warren County Sheriff's Deputy crashes into car with teenage driver

DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating an incident where a Warren County Sheriff's Vehicle crashed into another car with a teenage driver Wednesday.

The accident happened around 3:00 pm on Butler-Warren Rd. just north of Tylersville Rd. Police say a Warren County Sheriff's Deputy was responding to an accident with injuries and began traveling northbound on Butler-Warren Rd. with its emergency lights on. A 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt with a 16-year-old driver was traveling southbound on the same road and drove left of center.

Deputy Mark Pelfrey, who was operating the vehicle at the time, swerved to avoid the Cobalt but still struck the vehicle. Deputy Pelfrey then drove off the road and struck a utility pole, snapping it in half.

Deputy Pelfrey was transported to West Chester Hospital where he was treated and released with minor injuries. The 16-year-old was not injured and released to a parent at the scene.
