COLUMBIA TUSCULUM, OH (FOX19) - City officials broke ground Thursday on the Greenarama Home Show in Columbia Tusculum.
Greenarama is part of National Homeownership Month and features seven new energy efficient homes build to LEED (Leadership in Energy Efficient Design) standards.
Builders approached Council Member Laure Quinlivan with their concept for a Greenarama home show in 2010 and asked her to get the city involved as a sponsor. Quinlivan chairs the Quality of Life Committee, which oversees marketing and environmental issues. She convinced council members to vote for a $15,000 investment that helped create Greenarama, believing it is a great way to increase awareness of the city's progressive tax abatement.
"We have more green buildings than any city in Ohio and the region, and I'm very excited we're adding 7 more," says Quinlivan. "More importantly, we're adding residents to our city tax base. Cincinnati has become a green building leader because of our city's progressive 15 year property tax abatement for owners who build green, both residential and commercial."
