Grandfather killed, granddaughter hurt in Switzerland County accident

YORK TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - An Indiana man has died and his 7-year-old girl granddaughter was taken to the hospital after a crash Tuesday afternoon in Switzerland County.

It happened at around 4:40 p.m. on SR 456 in York Township, about two miles east of Florence, Ind.

Police say the driver, John J. Perry, 62, of Anderson, Ind. was traveling westbound on SR 456 when for unknown reasons, his minivan crossed the roadway and struck a tree. Perry was pronounced dead at the scene.

His granddaughter, Emma Perry, was taken to Carroll County Hospital with a broken arm and other non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators are investigating the possibility of some medical condition that may have contributed to the crash. Perry's vehicle was the only one involved.
