BUTLER COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - The Director of the Butler County Board of Elections has been terminated after being accused of two counts of theft from office.
Tippi Slaughter was indicted Wednesday after being put on paid administrative leave last week. The Deputy Director, Lynn Kincaid, will take over as Director of the Butler County Board of Elections until someone is placed in the position.
It is up to the Democratic Party to recommend a person to the Board of Elections. The Elections Board will then need to approve that person and then the Secretary of State in Columbus has to approve them as well.
According to the indictment, Tippi Slaughter's case involves more than $500 but less than $5,000. Police believe she is associated with James Schmidt Jr., who is accused of breaking into the elections office.
Slaughter faces up to 18 months behind bars if convicted and will be in court Wednesday.
