The Boone County Sheriff's Office has located a person of interest in the murder of a Boone County couple.

Bill and Peggy Stephenson were found dead on May 29 in their home on Rivers Edge Court in Florence.

Earlier this week, police released a photo of a man who was seen talking with Bill Stephenson on May 27 at the T.A. Truck Stop in Florence, where Bill was involved in a trucker's chapel.

On Friday, police identified the man in the photo. He contacted the Meriwether County, Ga. Sheriff's Office on Thursday morning when he learned police were looking for him.

Police say the man, whose name is not being released, was cooperative and submitted an interview with Georgia authorities. He is a truck driver who was contacted by an acquaintance who saw his picture on local TV.

Investigators say the man is a person of interest because he is one of the last people to talk to Bill Stephenson.

Police say the photo has seemed to spur renewed interest in the case among the public, and several people have been calling with additional leads not connected with the photo. Anyone who thinks they may have information about the case is urged to call the Sheriff's tip line at 859-334-3500 or Crimestoppers at 513-352-3040.
