CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
A Price Hill couple was sentenced Thursday for leaving a woman in a hot attic for three days.
Shawn Lloyd and his girlfriend, Adrienna Daniels, left Daniels' mother, Mary, locked in an attic without water and little food during some of the hottest days of the year in 2010.
Lloyd was sentenced to a year behind bars on charges of kidnapping, unlawful restraint and possession of drugs. He could have face five years in prison. Daniels was sentenced to a year of probation.
While Judge Jody Luebbers was sentencing Lloyd, he called the case "racist" and said he didn't do anything. Luebbers responded by telling Lloyd, "shut your mouth."
Mary Daniels had lived in the Price Hill home with her daughter for about 10 years.
Lloyd told Judge Luebbers that the "attic" was more like an upstairs room of the house. He said he is trying to turn his life around by attending school and getting good grades and that he would have never hurt Mary Daniels. He has a previous drug conviction from 2008.
Adrienna Daniels told Judge Luebbers that she would never let Lloyd in her house if she was going to harm her daughter and mother.
Prosecutor Megan Shanahan said Mary Daniels is doing well since the incident.
