All lanes southbound of I-75 in Carthage are now open following a deadly crash that shut down the interstate early Friday morning.
The highway was blocked just before Paddock Road after one person was killed in a traffic accident around 3 a.m.
Police say an Oldsmobile Alero was traveling southbound when the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a concrete wall. The vehicle left the roadway and came to a stop in a wooded area.
The driver, identified as David Duke, 35, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say he was not wearing a seat belt and alcohol could have been a factor.
