CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The House Ethics Committee has announced that it is investigating Representative Jean Schmidt.
In the announcement, made Friday, the committee did not mention what the investigation is about. However, in January David Krikorian, a Democrat who ran against Schmidt in the 2008 election, filed a complaint against Schmidt to the Office of Congressional Ethics. In the complaint, Krikorian accused Schmidt of taking free legal services from the Turkish Coalition of America.
The investigation into Schmidt by the Ethics Committee suggests that those complaints are being officially looked into.
In the announcement by the Ethics Committee, they note that an investigation does not indicate that any wrongdoing has taken place.
Republican Jean Schmidt has served four terms in the House of Representatives for Ohio's 2nd Congressional District.
