FORT MITCHELL, KY (FOX19) - Beechwood Elementary fifth graders shaved their heads on Sunday in support of their baseball teammate and classmate who is fighting Leukemia.

Jonah Steenken was diagnosed with Leukemia recently and has been receiving intense treatment at Children's Hospital.

He began losing his hair from the chemo treatments and had all of his hair shaved on Thursday, June 30.

On Sunday, nearly a dozen of his teammates and classmates shaved their heads supporting Jonah at a house on Fort Mitchell.

After each boy had their head shaved, a picture was taken and texted to Jonah at the hospital.

"It was a great day for the boys to showcase their support of their friend," said Kevin Willis, host of the Hair Shaving event and father to one of Jonah's classmates.

Many of the boys visited Jonah so he could see them and their newly shaved heads.
