WHITEWATER TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

A man was rescued from the Great Miami River after his boat capsized Saturday afternoon.

A short time after 5:30pm, Hamilton County Sheriff's Office received reports that a man had been rescued from the Great Miami River near Farwick Field in Miamitown.

Officials say 33-year-old Christopher Blasek was kayaking when his boat capsized and he was stranded in a tree in the river.

Blasek was wearing a personal flotation device and members of the Miami Township and Whitewater Fire Departments were able to get him out of the water by passing him a rope.
