Michael W. Bany Scholarship set to be awarded on Fountain Square

 A Cincinnati student will be presented a scholarship named after a local musician who was murdered.

The Michael W. Bany Scholarship will be presented to Devonte Roach on Tuesday, July 5 at 7:30pm.

 Roach is a 2011 Purcell Marian graduate who plans on attending Berklee College of Music in Boston where he will study music composition. After the presentation Roach will perform a song with the Sonny Moorman Group who will be performing as part of the PNC Summer Music Series.

 Michael W. Bany was a well-known musician who has played with the Goshorn Brothers, Wheels and the Bluebirds.

Bany was murdered in 1995 following a performance.

The corner of Main Street and Jail Alley is now known as Michael Bany Way.
