SPARTA, KY (FOX19) - As race time nears at Kentucky Speedway, the grass is disappearing, taken over by campers, and they're not all the conventional kind.
Mitchell Straub pulled up to race week at Kentucky Speedway in a bus he and his buddies bought for $800 decked out with a hot water heater and enough beds for seven people. The bus usually serves as a party bus in Talladega, but this trip is a bit more PG.
"In Alabama, they do things hard. There are some things I don't want my teenage boys to see," said Straub.
Mitchell's sons, Blake and Tyler, are learning the ropes at their first Sprint Cup race, plus getting some bonding time with dad.
"I think it's great to come out here and have the opportunity to spend the night on the bus," said Tyler.
Races begin Thursday night at the Kentucky Speedway, and continue Friday and Saturday.
